Destiny 2's new dungeon gets a release date

Lot 2‘s 17th season is still untitled a week after release. Players have no idea what their Guardians will be doing from May 24th. However, Bungie has dropped some interesting details around the new season and what players can expect regarding holidays, vault space and the shiny new dungeon.

The dungeon is going to be the pinnacle of Season 17’s endgame, so let’s start there first. Like the next season, we have no idea what the theme of the dungeon is or where it takes place in the world of Destiny. But we know when it will come out and what kind of rewards we will see.

Unlike previous season dungeons, the season 17 dungeon will not launch on May 24, along with the rest of the new content. Instead, it will be released in-game on Friday, May 27 at 1 p.m. ET. It’s also not free to play, so players must either get the Digital Deluxe Edition of . to own The Witch Queen expansion or buy a special bundle from the real money store for about $20.

In terms of rewards, the dungeon looks fairly full. Players will be able to get four new weapons, two reprise weapons, an exotic weapon (and its catalyst), an exotic accessory (a ship or a sparrow, Bungie didn’t specify which), two profile decals and an armor set. Like the Grasp or Avarice dungeon, players can also earn Artifice versions of that armor set (with more mod slots), by completing the Master difficulty version of the dungeon.

Players expecting to play on launch day must have 1550 Power for normal difficulty. Bungie will not announce the Master requirements prior to release.

Outside of the dungeon, Bungie is making some big changes to the summer event Solstice of Heroes, which will be just called Solstice from now on. For this event and all future events, players can use an event card to complete challenges and even earn special seals and titles. For players who real like events, they can complete challenges in each event to unlock a general event title sometime next year.

Finally, Bungie revealed that players will get 100 additional bank slots and new Trials loot in Season 17, including a sidearm, a fusion rifle, and an armor set (seen in the image above). However, due to the new season, Trials and their associated rewards will be paused until June 10.

Bungie will likely reveal the new season’s theme and story shortly before it goes live on Tuesday morning.
